When You Don’t See It, Do It Anyway with Antonia G.M. Lightbourne - Episode 48

There is a girl or boy out there right now who does not know why they are  here. They do not know if it is worth staying. And they need this episode.
This week I sat with someone I have admired from a distance, and I am so glad we finally got on that call together. Antonia G.M. Lightbourne is a purpose activist, a youth champion, a speaker, a published author, and the visionary behind a movement that has received official government recognition in the Bahamas. But long before any of that, she was a teenager sitting in darkness, asking God if she even had a reason to be here.
Antonia takes us back to the divorce that shattered her world as a child, the depression and low self-esteem that followed her all the way into salvation, the imposter syndrome that had her literally going missing when her name was about to be called. And then she takes us all the way forward to standing before the Prime Minister (of The Bahamas), lining up rocks as a little girl that her grandfather said would one day be people.
Yes. That kind of episode.
We talk about obedience as an act of courage, what happens when God says go and everything inside you says no, and what it means to die to yourself so that the people assigned to you can actually receive what they need. We talk about Purpose Awareness Month, a whole national movement born from one woman saying yes to a vision she could not yet see clearly. And there is something in this conversation for the person who has been running, for the leader who has been making excuses, for the young person who still does not know what they are here for, and for anyone who has ever felt like the darkness was too familiar, too comfortable, maybe even too safe.
It is not too late. It is not too big. And it is not about you anyway.
God is more invested in you discovering your purpose than you will ever be.

She is the author of Dare to Declare, a book helping young women understand the power of their words, and a certified youth leader with the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Culture in the Bahamas.
Her vibrant communication style has opened doors in radio hosting on Joy 101.9fm, public speaking, and event production. I sat down with Monty Lans, one of the most authentic and gifted content creators I have had the pleasure of watching from the sidelines. From Rejection to Resilience: Candera Lomax’s Journey - Episode 46

At some point in life, we find ourselves standing in spaces we once dreamed of reaching, yet quietly wondering if we truly belong there. Success on the outside can often hide inner doubts, questions of worthiness, and moments of feeling like an imposter. In this episode, I sit down with a great friend, Candera Lomax, to talk about how purpose often unfolds through seasons of uncertainty, growth, and healing.
Candera Lomax is an educator, mentor, author, and newly graduated doctoral scholar who now chairs and mentors doctoral students while helping develop a graduate counseling program at Oral Roberts University. While her accomplishments are remarkable, her journey to this moment included serious health challenges during the final stages of her doctorate, seasons of rejection, and years of wondering whether marriage would ever be part of her story.
Eventually, love did arrive. Candera met her husband Herbert later in life, and because they both had clarity about what they wanted, their relationship moved quickly from meeting to marriage in about ten months. Yet as she shares honestly, the joy of marriage also surfaced deeper layers of healing connected to past trauma and the weight of purity culture. One of the most powerful moments she describes is the day she spoke compassionately to her inner child, a step that became a turning point in her healing journey.
We also talk about how Candera discovered her deeper sense of purpose. During a leadership meeting where imposter syndrome showed up strongly, she experienced a moment of clarity about the work she felt called to do helping young women discover their beauty, purpose, and destiny. That realization eventually led to the creation of Blossoms, and through her work and her book Rock That Dress: Embracing Your Unique Design, she reminds us that we don’t have to wear someone else’s purpose, the one designed for our lives already fits.

About the Guest
Dr. Candera T. Lomax is an Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Education at Oral Roberts University, where she developed and directed the Master of Education in School Counseling program. A native of Nassau, Bahamas, Dr. Lomax rose from humble beginnings to achieve academic and professional success. After graduating from the then College of the Bahamas in 2007, she spent eight years teaching Religious Studies at S.C. McPherson Junior High School. During her tenure, she founded a mentoring program for young women, which inspired her to pursue a master’s degree in counseling to better serve their needs.
Dr. Lomax holds a Master’s in Professional Counseling and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, both from Oral Roberts University. She is a published author, poet, mentor, and hair stylist, using her diverse gifts to glorify God. Dr. Lomax is married to Herbert Lomax Jr.

When Grief Changes You But Does Not Define You with Alexis Hunter - Episode 44

What do you do when the life you built with someone suddenly ends?

When you are married, you grow together. You discover parts of yourself through conversation, conflict, compromise, and shared dreams. Marriage is a continuous unfolding. So what happens when that unfolding is interrupted without warning?
In this deeply transparent conversation, I sit down with Alexis Hunter to talk about what it truly means to be widowed young and left holding conversations that will never be finished.
At 29 years old, Alexis had what many would describe as the dream. She was married, raising her son, owned her home, and was serving as a National Marketing Director for an international nonprofit organization. Then on May 3, 2019, her husband was involved in a devastating car accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. After three months of fighting for his life, he passed away on August 3, 2019.
Everything changed.
And what moved me most about Alexis is not just what she lost. It is how she chose to respond to what was left.
Grief reshaped her life. It forced new questions. Who am I now? What does my future look like? How do I honor what was while still stepping toward what can be?
This episode is not just about widowhood. It is about identity, faith, and rebuilding when the life you planned no longer exists.
I believe this deeply. Grief will change you, but it does not get to define you.

Finding Your Assignment: Overcoming Victimhood and Living Purposefully with Tbo Touch - Episode 43

One of the most profound moments in this conversation came when I listened to Tbo Touch, a South African broadcaster and global thought leader, reframe desire itself.
He spoke openly about the danger of confusing what we want with what we are actually built to carry. With striking honesty, he shared that there were seasons where he found himself recovering from things he once prayed for, experiences, access, opportunities, and influence, only to realize they were never meant to be permanent fixtures in his life.
Not everything we want is good for us.Not everything we desire is safe for us.And not everything we can access is something we have the capacity to contain.
Through fasting and prayer, Tbo Touch explained how discernment sharpened his prayers, shifting them from “Lord, give me more” to “Lord, give me only what I can steward.” His prayer was no longer about excess, but precision, not more than he is built for, not less than he is assigned, exactly what aligns with his growth, character, and calling.
He shared how this season of life marked a turning point, where wisdom and revelation now sit at the top of his hierarchy of needs. Not visibility. Not gigs. Not endorsements. Not applause. Growth.
I found myself reflecting on a deeper question. If God is only good when things are abundant, what happens when they are stripped away? But if God is good because we are growing, then fruitfulness is no longer self serving. It becomes generational.
This opened the door for me to expand the conversation by reframing fasting beyond food, inviting listeners to examine what truly has control over them. I shared my own journey of fasting sugar after realizing it had become an emotional and physical dependency. What followed was not deprivation. It was clarity, healing, energy, discipline, and deeper intimacy with God.
What I thought I needed, God replaced with something better.

Sean Smith is an actor, author, writer, poet, producer, performer, speaker, and master neuro-transformational coach. He is the creator and founder of Elite Success Systems, a personal development and human healing company, and a devoted husband and father of two. At the age of 13, Sean was nearly killed in a hit-and-run accident by his next-door neighbor while riding his bicycle to school, a car traveling over 50 miles per hour. That experience shaped his lifelong commitment to helping others transform their lives.
Over the past two decades, Sean has dedicated his life to creating “neuro-transformation” in all areas of human behavior. His approach blends numerous leadership and healing methodologies to produce lasting change in the mind and body. He is the author of Daddy, Are You Proud of Me? — A Father’s Guide for What Daughters Need to Hear, See and Know From Their Dads, a book that explores the father-daughter relationship, self-esteem, and masculinity at a deeply healing level.
Sean is also one of the few people to deliver two spoken word TEDx performances, including Dear Racism: A Break-Up Letter From a White Man and The Power of Vulnerability in Men. He co-wrote, produced, and starred in the award-winning poetic short film Let’s Grow, alongside personal development icon Lisa Nichols and Hollywood actor David Bianchi, which addresses healing racism. In just his first three years as an actor, he appeared in over 75 short films. He also wrote, produced, and performed a vulnerable, 90-minute one-man show, I Do, Mom, exploring his personal journey with his mother.
Since founding his personal development coaching and training company in 2006, Sean has transformed hundreds of thousands of lives worldwide. He has produced over 30 online courses and more than 3,000 articles, audios, and videos covering nearly every topic related to success and leadership. A prolific creator of transformational poems and songs, he has garnered over 1,000,000 views on YouTube and has spoken and trained across Europe, Asia, South America, and North America.

The 13-Inch Journey Between the Head and the Heart w/ Sandi Lynn - Episode 40

This episode of the PURPOSE FINDER PODCAST is a powerful reminder that purpose does not fade with age. In many ways, it deepens. I sit with my dear friend Sandi Lynn, who is living fully in what she calls her fourth quarter, yet shows up with joy, curiosity, and energy. Her life reflects what it looks like to stay engaged, connected, and open to what is still possible, even in seasons many assume are meant for slowing down.
Sandi shares honestly about the journey between the head and the heart, what she calls the thirteen inch journey. Over the years, and especially during her time as a caregiver for her husband, she learned when to lean into logic and when to surrender to feeling and faith. During the global shutdown, she found unexpected space to slow down, grow, and enroll in a year-long transformational program that supported her through grief, caregiving, and deep personal reflection.
We talk openly about loss, including the ending of a role she believed would be her long term purpose work. That loss was painful and disorienting, yet it revealed an important truth. Purpose is not attached to a single job, title, age, or season. When one door closes, the calling does not disappear. It simply begins to take a new form, often one we could not see at first.
In this season of her life, Sandi has become deeply intentional about how she lives and leads. She focuses on what matters most, structures her days around her core priorities, and refuses to believe that purpose and joy cannot coexist. After years of caregiving, she has reclaimed fun, connection, rest, and creativity without guilt, showing that meaningful work can be life giving rather than draining.

Sandi Lynn is an award-winning entrepreneur, speaker, and mentor with a global impact in conference management, public relations, and leadership development. She is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified Laughter Yoga Leader, and Certified Transformational Trainer who has spent decades empowering entrepreneurs, executives, and young women to lead with confidence and purpose.
